Grow in April with Avoca #avocainspire Campaign

We are delighted to launch Grow in April, the next stage of our #avocainspire campaign.

April is a month when many of us will be getting our gardens ready for the sunny season ahead. Tidying, planting, growing and sowing, it’s a time where we often feel inspired to look ahead, but also to mindfully enjoy pottering in our gardens or tending to the herbs and plants we keep on our windowsills and balconies. After a long Winter, it feels great to begin to spend more time outdoors again, and to get ready to enjoy our gardens and outside spaces!

For Grow in April, we will be sharing top tips on planting and growing from our head gardener, Des, and our kitchen gardener, Dermot. We’ll be sharing nature-inspired tablescaping tips with the talented Joeanna Caffrey, learning how to plant a beautiful succulent garden, as well as enjoying virtual events such as yoga and meditation in some of our stunning gardens, to name just a few.

Wednesday 31st March at 8am on Instagram TV: Easter Tablescaping with @joeannacaffreyflowers

Marking the start of our Grow in April series, we couldn’t think of a better way to launch it than a masterclass in Easter floral tablescaping from the talented Joeanna Caffrey! Joeanna will be taking us through all her tips on how to decorate a beautiful Easter table at home, and you can catch it on our IGTV on Wednesday 31st March at 8am. We’d love to see how you recreate your own, so please do share your pics with us tagging @avocaireland with the hashtag #avocainspire! 

Wednesday 7th April at 8am on Instagram TV: Meditation with Aisling Leonard LIVE from Mount Usher Gardens

@aislingleonard.ie is a Holistic Therapist as well as a teacher of yoga and meditation. It is Aisling’s hope and life work to share her knowledge and healing with the world, so join us for a mindful meditation practice to start your day right! Tune in on Instagram Live and watch Aisling guide a calming meditation class from the stunning setting of Mount Usher Gardens, with just the birdsong as background music. 

Wednesday 14th April at 8am on Instagram TV: Tree Trail Tour at Mount Usher with Head Gardner Sean Heffernan

Join us as we take a tour around Mount Usher Gardens with Head Gardener Sean Heffernan. Since 2006 Sean has been working as the Head Gardener at Mount Usher Gardens, after having began his professional career in horticulture in Dublin at Longs Nurseries and Airfield farm and garden in Dundrum. During achieved his RHS qualifications at Dublin School of Horticulture, after which he accepted a position at Mount Usher garden and moved down to Wicklow. Sean will be taking us on a Tree Trail Tour introducing several of his favourite trees that can be found in the Garden. Tune into our IGTV to see just how stunning this World Class Garden is - Monty Don has described it as one of his top favourite gardens.

Wednesday 21st April at 8am on Instagram TV: SlowFlow Yoga with @earthandpurposeyoga LIVE from Powerscourt Gardens

Kicking off Wellness Wednesdays is the wonderful Rachel of @earthandpurposeyoga. Also a part of the Avoca Marketing team, Rachel will be leading this morning flow designed to set you up for a great day ahead. Live from the beautiful setting of Powerscourt Gardens, we think this will be a very special way to start your day. The class is open to all levels, so all you'll need is a mat.

Thursday 22nd April on Instagram TV: Gardening and growing Tips with Dermot and Des

We are delighted to have our Head Gardener, Des, and our Kitchen Gardener, Dermot, on hand to answer all your growing, sowing and gardening questions! 

Dermot Carey has been growing and supplying vegetables to restaurants since 1993 and started working in Avoca Dunboyne in 2016. Dermot's area of expertise is custom grown vegetables that cater to individual chef's needs and cooking styles. His Mantra is 'Growing for restaurants starts and finishes in the kitchen. He is currently working with food producers and chefs in some of Ireland's finest award-winning restaurants with kitchen gardens.

Des Carton has been Avoca's Head Gardener for 27 years. Joining the company in 1992, Des began his career after studying in the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, and then moved on to the RHS in Wisley. A wealth of knowledge and experience on all things gardening and growing, Des will be providing his expertise so you can put his skills to use in your own gardens and outdoor spaces.

Wednesday 28th April at 8am on Instagram TV: Succulent Workshop – IGTV 

Join our talented Gardener Joanna on how to create your own succulent at home. She’ll be taking you through all the steps to create your very own indoor plant display. Available at Avoca Kimac, Dunboyne and selected Avoca Garden Centres  to buy, we think they make a unique and thoughtful gift this Spring.
