Our Brand New 'Friends Of The Forest' Trail At Avoca Kilmacanogue

Explore our brand new nature trail in the beautiful grounds of Avoca Kilmacanogue and enjoy a fun filled day with all the family!

We’re delighted to launch our brand new nature trail at Avoca Kilmacanogue this May bank holiday weekend!

Our ‘Friends of the Forest’ trail is an interactive nature trail set in the beautiful grounds of Avoca Kilmacanogue. Perfect for children and families, visitors will explore the grounds throughout the 10 points of the trail, discovering all the animals and plants throughout while having lots of fun along the way!

All you’ll need for the trail is our ‘Friends of the Forest’ trail booklet, which can be purchased at the desk in Avoca Kilmacanogue for €3. Filled with questions, games and fun activities for the little ones - and the big kids too!

With lots of Irish wildlife (some carved from wood, and perhaps some the real thing!), fun and games, we hope you’ll enjoy our ‘Friends of the Forest’ trail!

Important notes for the grown-ups…

  • The trail is open year round from 9.30am. Last entry is 4.30pm during summer season ( April-Oct) and 3pm Winter ( Nov- Mar) unless we’ve a special event running.
  • To experience and interact with the 10 point trail, you must purchase a booklet at our retail till in store on arrival. Booklets are €3.
  • The trail is perfect for primary school children from 5 years and up. Younger children will need adult help with some of the activities in the booklet.
  • Please allow plenty of time for parking, particularly if you’re meeting friends at the trail. On busy days, please use our overflow carparks.
  • There’s no time restriction on how long you spend on the trail so take as much time as you need however, we would recommend allowing a minimum of 30-40 mins to complete.
  • We kindly ask that you mind your children around the trail, there are steps, little hills and bumps from tree trunks so watch your footing and wear appropriate footwear during wet weather!
  • We would like our Friends of the Forest trail to be an experience for all to enjoy so we kindly ask you to keep children from climbing on wooden sculptures and features or leaving scribbles on the trail markers. We love lots of scribbles on our booklets though!
