The range of meat on offer at the Avoca Butcher is varied and extensive. Our food team scoured the country for months, discussing welfare, quality of feed, and the right to roam freely in orchards, fields and mountain pastures. We are passionate about who we work with, and are proud to bring the very best of Irish organic, free range and artisan produce to your home. The principles of honesty and integrity are extremely important to us, therefore it was essential to find suppliers with the same ethos.

Avoca are pleased to announce our partnership with local beef farmer, Joe O’Connell, to provide customers with the finest organic grass-fed Angus beef. Suckler reared and grass fed their entire lives these cattle roam from pasture to pasture and shelter in copses, just as it should be. They eat only grass and drink only fresh spring water. They are given no drugs or antibiotics whatsoever and live outdoors all year round, just as nature intended. In keeping with Avoca’s commitment to sourcing sustainably and disrupting unacceptable standards supply chain, this partnership with Ballyhenry Farm is a natural fit. This local Farm is in the village of Ashford, Co. Wicklow, just a short distance from the Avoca Headquarters in Kilmacanoge. We are delighted to announce this organic grass-fed beef which is appreciated by and available exclusively at the Avoca Butchers and Food Market.

Kildare. We get our free-range geese from Mary and Tony Walsh who have been rearing free range poultry on their farm in Kilkenny for close to fifteen years.

We also get organic chickens, turkey and pigs from Mary and Dave Regan, who run a 45 acre farm based in Enniscorthy. Certified organic, they operate without any pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics or hormones, all of their animals are reared naturally free range.

If it’s turkey you’re after, our organic bronze hen turkeys are reared by Corina Mount Charles on her family farm in Co. Meath, where they roam freely and are fed an organic grain diet. We’re also lucky enough to have Eoin Sharkey rear his free-range bronze turkeys exclusively for Avoca. The turkeys are free to forage and roam on the farm which is just half an hour down the road from our Dunboyne store – it’s hard to get any more local than that.

We work with husband and wife duo Diane and Dave Milestone for more free-range pork from Andarl Farm in Co. Mayo, just a few miles from the Wild Atlantic Way. Their pigs are reared happy and healthy in a natural Irish environment, with the absence of doors in their pens meaning they must venture outside at play and mealtimes.
