What's Going on at Avoca for Heritage Week

Aug 11, 2022

We are delighted to be taking part in Heritage Week 2022!

Celebrating Ireland’s built, cultural and natural heritage, Heritage Week is coordinated by the Heritage Council of Ireland. It brings together communities, families, organisations and enthusiasts to build awareness around the value of our heritage, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it!

FREE GUIDED TOUR OF THE AVOCA MILL

To celebrate Heritage Week, the Avoca mill will be offering free guided tours (normally €7.50) for everyone on Monday 15th August from 10am - 3pm. Join our mill tour guides Jim and Allan as they share the history, heritage and craft of the oldest working mill in Ireland. In operation since 1723, the mill is where our talented weavers still craft our famous throws, scarves, baby blankets and more, and this tour is a fantastic way of watching these skilled artisans at work.

FREE GUIDED TOUR OF MOUNT USHER GARDENS

We will also be offering a free guided tour of the beautiful Mount Usher Gardens on Wednesday 17th August at 11am-12pm or 2.30pm-3.30pm. Please note garden entrance fee applies - adult €9, senior citizens & students €8, children (4-16 years) €5, children (under 4 years) free. Free for 2022 season ticket holders. Pre-booking is essential – to book call 0404 49672.

Avoca at Mount Usher Gardens is a haven of beauty and tranquillity spanning 22 acres. As part of Heritage Week, visitors can enjoy an guided tour of the gardens from one of the Head Gardeners, with expert info on all of its beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers.
