The Burren Perfumery Launches New Fragrance Collection
The Burren Perfumery Launches New Fragrance Collection,
Exclusive to Avoca stores
Although The Burren Perfumery is Ireland’s oldest working perfumery and has been a perfumer since 1972, the range hasn’t been distributed to other retailers for over 10 years. The products have only been available from the manufacturing site in the Burren and online. Following a major repackaging of the brand and The Burren perfumery press launch on the 12th of July The Burren Perfumery celebrates the new products and a partnership with AVOCA, who will be exclusive stockists of the range from 24th July.
The Burren Perfumery expertly makes small batch perfumes and cosmetics inspired by the iconic limestone Burren landscape and its unique flora of Mediterranean and alpine flowers. The Perfumery has recently launched a new fragrance collection with luxurious custom made packaging designed in collaboration with Irish botanical artist, Cliona Doyle. Created on-site and by hand, the perfume collection incorporates six scent families - Lost Garden, Grassland, Woodland, Herb Garden, Atlantic Coast and Irish Limestone, which includes perfumes, soaps and certified organic cosmetics.
For the summer season, the bestseller is the Summer Harvest 50ml Eau de Parfum (RRP €42) and Summer Harvest Body Lotion 200ml (RRP €26). These are complemented by additional products from the organic face and body care range.
Sadie Chowen took over The Burren Perfumery in 2001, expanding and modernising its perfume range, adding organic cosmetics, cold-process soaps, candles, herbal teas and essential oils to its offering over the years. She runs the company with her husband, Ralph, and their team of 30 local staff. A visit to The Burren Perfumery grounds is not complete without a trip to the rose-covered Tea Rooms, the Soap Room, the Blending Rooms and Herb Gardens, and daily tours and talks are organised in high season.
In the workshops of the Perfumery, the perfumes, creams, balms and soaps are mixed and blended by Sadie, Rose and Cate. Batch sizes are small, about 30 to 50 units, ensuring ingredients are used at their freshest, and products do not require long lasting preservatives that are commonly found in mass manufactured cosmetics. Manufacturing by hand in Clare is a core part of the Perfumery’s ethos to create and maintain rural employment, use sustainable ingredients and build a business that has long term benefits for the community, environment and customers alike.
The Burren Perfumery products are available in Avoca stores nationwide from 24th July 2017, including body lotion, castile soaps, hand creams and soaps, and eau de parfums from its Herb Garden, Lost Garden, Atlantic Coast, and Grassland scent families.
The Burren Perfumery founder Sadie Chowen will be in the following Avoca locations during launch week answering all questions perfume-related so be sure to pop in and see the products for yourself!
