BBQ Season Best Tips & Tricks

May 28, 2020

We are delighted to welcome another sunny BBQ season! This year it may be a little different, but nonetheless we are looking forward to firing up the grill and enjoying some al fresco dining this Summer.

In the spirit of BBQ season, we thought we would share some of our best tips and tricks!

  • Light your BBQ well ahead of cooking to maximise the best temperature.
  • Segregate your BBQ with extra hot & warm zones. This will help you cook items that need longer without burning them. Use your top racks as well, they are great for baked potatoes & grilled corn on the cob.
  • Always make sure your grill is clean of any debris. This will help items not to stick & also prevent burning & flaming.
  • Make sure your ingredients are brought back to room temperature before grilling, to make sure the outside doesn’t burn before cooking through to the middle.
  • Season your ingredients well before grilling. Whether marinated in your favourite sauce or seasoned with a delicious smoky rub. Overnight marinating is always best if you have the time.
  • If using wooden skewers, always soak in warm water for 1 hour, this will help them not burn when you're grilling.
  • Do not be tempted to turn meat/vegetables over too quickly as this may cause them to stick to the grill. Be patient!
  • Digital thermometers are the best tool you can have when barbequing.
  • Always make sure you rest your meat before slicing. This allows the juices to relax through the meat. 5 minutes is a good guide.
  • Think out of the box & try dessert grilling recipes. Grilled peaches, pineapple & bananas are a great option, and grilled fruit skewers are delicious served with warm chocolate sauce!
